Abstract
On October 25, 1984, the Paraguayan Society of Rheumatology (SPR) was founded in Asunción with the aim of bringing together Paraguay’s rheumatologists into an association dedicated to scientific and professional purposes.
From a scientific standpoint, the SPR focuses primarily on: 1. Certification and recertification of properly trained rheumatologists, both in the country and abroad. 2. Developing and supporting scientific training activities (Continuing Medical Education). 3. Supporting research and the dissemination of scientific work in rheumatology (examples: the Paraguayan Journal of Rheumatology and Biobadaguay).
